Why does the shift drawer show a shortage?
Usually an expense left the drawer without being logged.
- Every riyal leaving the drawer for anything but refunds — a driver's fuel, a worker's wage, a small purchase — must be logged under "Debts and expenses → Expenses".
- A cash expense reduces the cash expected in the drawer, so the closing report balances instead of showing a shortage the cashier is unfairly blamed for.
- Card or transfer expenses are logged too, but they do not touch the drawer.
- The shift closing report shows cash expenses and debt collection as two separate lines, so the difference is explained.
